Mexico Trip A Success
07/23/2007
Advanced Audiology, Inc. wishes to thank all the patients who contributed to the "Tehuacan Hearing Project." Our group of audiologists went to Mexico this March and fit another 40 children with hearing aids. That brings the total to more than 130 children who are now able to hear for the first time!
This year we were also present for the grand opening of the "Casa de Sordo," which is the first school for the deaf in all of Mexico. Again, we were instrumental in the formation in this project, right down to helping to paint the day before the ceremony. What fun! We also helped provide the computers for the children, so that they can practice their speech and language skills, and learn a marketable trade. We are really making a difference in the lives of these children.
The "Tehuacan Hearing Project" was started as a desire by Dr. Barb Jenkins and Loveland audiologist Jeff Douglass to help children hear who otherwise would never get the chance. They designed the trip to give the children hearing aids and follow-up support. Grants from the DTC Sertoma and Loveland Rotary clubs, and donations from Siemens Hearing Instruments and Westone Laboratories were added to the Advanced Audiology Inc. patient fund to make all of this possible.
If you would like to become a part of this wonderful project, then just purchase a pack of batteries. 100% of the battery profit goes to charities such as this. We are also in need of donated hearing aids. All makes, styles, and types can be used. If they cannot be fixed, then parts may be used toward repairs. Please contact our offices by phone for more information. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
